About Us
Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market was started in April 2008 by Farmers of Orange, a state non-profit organization created for local farmers by local farmers.  All of our farmers and artisans live within 60 miles of Chapel Hill, NC and bring fresh quality produce, value-added farm products, and crafts to market year-round.

Community Compost Project Continues!!
The CHFM compost site is made possible by the collaborative efforts of Orange County Solid Waste Management, CHFM, University Place, and the Town of Chapel Hill. Residential compost can be dropped off during Saturday market hours. All food, food-related plain paper products, and BPI-certified compostable serving-wear allowed. If in doubt, leave it out!

Friends of the Market

The Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market has been a community destination since 2008 thanks to YOU, our loyal customers and supporters. Over the years we have grown the market and continue to provide Chapel Hill with a place to be twice a week that nourishes the soul of our town.
You may not know that the market operates primarily off of the weekly stall fees from our farmers and artisans. Despite this modest budget, we are constantly working to make fresh and healthy food accessible to our entire Chapel Hill community. We want to continue expanding the offerings of our market and need your help to make this happen.
With our Friends  of the Market Program, we are offering an opportunity for our customers to invest in the future of the Market by making recurring or one-time contributions. Examples of how we will use the funds include expanding our children’s programming, and continuing our outreach efforts to underserved communities in Chapel Hill. We invite you to invest in your market. Help us ensure that the Chapel Hill Farmers' Market continues to be a place for our farmers and artisans to thrive and a place for our community to come together around fresh and healthy food.
